Our flexible training options allow you to undertake the training level that suits you. If a national qualification is important to you, upgrade from the three day Pre-Professional program to the Full-Time Certificate IV in Dance.

Michelle Hopper Doyle

Course Director

Michelle Hopper Doyle is a highly respected leader in the Australian performing arts industry, with over 25 years of experience as a professional performer, choreographer, and creative visionary. Known for her exceptional standards, bold creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Michelle has earned a reputation as a trusted authority and mentor in the dance world.

As founder of LAUNCH Performing Arts Centre, Michelle’s purpose goes beyond credentials and credits. She created LAUNCH to be a space where students make lifelong memories, connect through their shared passion, and — for those called to it — have the opportunity to turn their love of dance into a fulfilling career. She is deeply passionate about instilling work ethic, self-respect, and resilience in her students, inspiring them to strive for their best, make choices that lead to personal growth, and step confidently into their future — whether on stage or beyond.

Michelle’s professional career spans stage, screen, and television. She performed in major productions including Singin’ in the Rain (Australasian tour, as Cyd Charisse) and Grease: The Arena Spectacular featuring John Farnham, and has shared the stage with global music artists including Kylie Minogue, Jessica Mauboy, Boyzone, and Adam Lambert.

Her film and television appearances include Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, Happy Feet 1 & 2, The Son of the Mask, and Goddess, along with The X Factor, Australian Idol, The ARIAs, MTV Awards, Nickelodeon, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars.

Behind the scenes, Michelle has carved a path as a respected choreographer and producer. Her work has featured in major events such as the AHIA Awards, Aussie Home Loans’ national event, and a SEA FM flash mob that went viral. Her choreography has been showcased on Seasons 3–5 of The Masked Singer Australia, under the creative direction of The Squared Division.

Michelle has had the privilege of working with industry greats including Baz Luhrmann, George Miller, David Atkins, Kelley Abbey, Wade Robson, The Squared Division, John O’Connell, Jason Coleman, Nathan Mark Wright, and Dein Perry.

In addition to studio life, Michelle continues to shape the future of dance through her work as a faculty member and choreographer for national conventions including TDE, Light The Way, ADF, and VDF.

Empowerdance are an industry leader in the field of dance education providing Australia’s most industry relevant nationally accredited qualifications. Their accredited courses are delivered in line with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards.

Empowerdance Pty Ltd RTO 40397 is the RTO for the LAUNCH Performing Arts Centre.

I have been a part of Launch Performing Arts Centre since the beginning, and I can confidently say that it has been the best decision of my life. Being a student at Launch has not only shaped me as a dancer, but it has also influenced my morals and values as a person. Under the constant guidance of Michelle, the director, I have learned everything I know and I wouldn’t be the person and dancer I am today without her.

One of the greatest aspects of Launch is the high caliber of teachers, creatives, and choreographers that come to the studio. The exposure to these industry professionals gives students the chance to learn from and be seen by the best in the field.

From the age of 13 Michelle took me under her wing to train me as an assistant, teacher, and professional working dancer. Michelle has become like a second mother to me, always there to support and guide me.

Karin Mochizuki

I made the decision at 22 years old to follow my performing dreams and train full-time at Launch. For me there was nowhere else I wanted to train more than under the direction of Michelle Hopper-Doyle. Nervous and with the singular goal to simply be open and see what comes out of the year, I began my journey. We had the privilege of learning from top industry professionals weekly, alongside a stellar line up of guest teachers. Their talent, artistry and knowledge was inspiring and their investment in our training and us as individuals truly transformed me as a performer.

Michelle instilled in us the highest of work ethics, drive and determination needed to pursue a career in this industry. She also encouraged us to be open, versatile, and most importantly to believe in ourselves. She was the first person to believe in me and for the first time I began to believe that with hard work and perseverance I could have the career of my dreams. It is this mindset I took with me through two years of full time and continue to live by today. I made my professional debut towards the end of my training and signed with my first agent right after our graduation performance.

Since then I have started to attain some of my wildest dreams. I danced in Rebel Wilson’s new film “The Deb,” worked as dance captain in a cabaret show in Germany, was in the pre-production cast for Grayboy’s new show for P&O, performed as a singer/dancer in a cabaret that Michelle co-produced and choreographed, along with multiple corporate events across Queensland. Since graduating, Launch is still the place I call home. I will forever be grateful for Michelle’s ongoing support and guidance, and I would not be where I am today without her and the entire team at Launch.

Emma Pavichievac

For as long as I can remember dance has always been my biggest passion in life. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it was difficult for many dancers like me to maintain the busy dance schedule that we usually had and to enjoy dancing in our own homes. I reached out to Michelle during this Covid period, and she welcomed me to the studio with open arms. She sparked my love for dance again. Michelle speaks about dance with so much knowledge and passion behind her words that it’s hard not to want to train under someone like her.

She is a woman with so much experience and someone who champions the morals of resilience and hard work, characteristics I want to possess as a dancer in this industry. She has guided me through all the ins and outs that have helped me start my career as a professional dancer, never failing to provide me with the best teachers and resources along the way. Michelle Leung

At the beginning of 2023 I moved from Brisbane to the Gold Coast to train full-time at LAUNCH Performing Arts Centre, under the guidance of Michelle Hopper-Doyle. The decision to train at LAUNCH has been nothing but inspiring and fulfilling. The wide range of classes, choreographers, and performance opportunities available to us is unmatched. We receive a variety of styles taught by the industry’s most sought-after professionals, ensuring we attain a well-rounded education with the correct tools for succeeding with longevity. The experienced teachers not only challenge me but push me to surpass my own ideas of what I am capable of. They assist me to continuously strive to become the most well-rounded performer and ensure I reach my full potential.

Erin

Starting as a newcomer to the performing arts world at a late age I never imagined the transformation that awaited me when I stepped into Launch. When I was entering grade 10 at my regular high school I decided to continue my studies through The ‘Launch academy’ without any prior dance training, just ambition and passion. Under the direction of Michelle Hopper Doyle, it didn’t matter my ability, but my determination.

The moment I stepped into the studio; I knew I had found my second home. The atmosphere, the energy, and the passion for dance that emanate from every corner are truly infectious, a testament to Michelle’s vision and leadership.

I am currently in my final year of full time and have successfully landed my dream agent, PJ Clarke and have successfully completed two professional musical theatre contracts, whilst completing my High School Certificate and my Certificate IV in Musical Theatre.

Through just a few years of training under Michelle and the exceptional mentors at Launch, the dreams I had walking into the studio are becoming a reality. At Launch we’re not just a studio, we truly are a family.

10+ incredible years of extensive training, performing and teaching at Launch Performing Arts Centre, have allowed me to pursue and craft a career of my own. Michelle Hopper Doyle, Troy Phillips and other key staff members of Launch nurtured, guided, loved and cared for me throughout my entire journey as a young performer and young individual. Their tailored guidance and direction across all genres of dance and performance instilled a work ethic and resilient mindset.

With an extensive career in the Australian dance industry, Michelle Hopper Doyle gave real-life insights, tailored learnings, and personalized notes relevant not only to the industry as a whole but also to each individual, including myself.
