TEEN DANCE, ACTING & SINGING CLASSES

ACTING

One of the most coveted tools of the trade is having a good set of acting chops. Whether your child wants to go on to become Hollywood’s next biggest “it” person or to have as a hobby for community theatre and local productions, our acting classes provide the opportunities for students to become their most confident selves and discover their creativity.

PERFORMANCE JAZZ

Performance jazz are extra classes for students to attend in order to ultimately become better performers. For students working on routines for events and competitions, they offer extra practice and training on top of their regular jazz classes, and are an advancement above their normal classes for students who are committed to more serious training. In the end their hard work will pay off!

MUSICAL THEATRE

Singing, acting and dancing are all imparted skills in our musical theatre classes. Your child will learn songs from a broad range of real musicals, along with the acting and dancing that goes with them to arm them as a triple threat and an asset to any future production they take part in, big or small.

STRETCH & TECHNIQUE

In order to maintain an instrument, it must be properly cared for and kept in tune. The same goes for a dancer, singer or acrobat’s body. Our stretch and technique classes are designed for students to learn stretches and techniques for their instruments, how to deal with injury and understand proper form and turnout so that they give it the best possible care for the future.

OPEN CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary’s earthy, naturalistic movements combine ballet technique with modern dance. Our students are coached through improvisation, adaptability to rhythm and direction changes, and floor work in our open contemporary classes.

OPEN TAP

Tap dance combines rhythmic sounds made by the dancer’s feet and coordination with the music. Broadway, street, jazz and everything else under the tap umbrella will be taught to our open classes, while focussing on development and strength – both for the dancer’s  grasp of rhythm and music, and their tap technique.

OPEN JAZZ

One of the oldest forms of dance, jazz continues to evolve from its classic roots. Our teen jazz classes will continue to develop students’ skills from previous years, using age-appropriate music and helpful instruction to ensure each student can express themselves individually. For those who have just joined, LAUNCH will teach them all the steps and techniques it takes to progress onto the senior class, and perhaps to go on to become a master jazz dancer.

OPEN HIP-HOP

Hip hop is a form of dance that requires full-body strength, from the arms and upper body to the legs and feet, with each part playing a pivotal role in the development of the dance. Hip hop is a great way to stay active and fit by competing in battles and freestyling with your crew.

SINGING

Vocal exercises, training and breathing techniques are all taught in our singing classes. Students can select songs in which to practice and improve on during their lessons, while our talented professionals will help each student develop their own personal style of singing.

INTERMEDIATE ACROBATICS

Acrobatics involves coordination, balance and skill to execute flying, jumping and tumbling acts. This class emphasises on developing those techniques as well as teaching the flexibility and body contortion skills necessary for all the splits, tumbles and turns.

GRADE 4 RAD BALLET

Ballet is a unique form of dance as it encompasses the grace and elegance of slow, fluid movement and the technique to execute fast steps. It requires posture, flexibility and endurance and in return develops alignment, strength and muscle tone. Grade 4 introduces teens to a new level of ballet skill and technique while preparing them for their RAD examinations.

GRADE 5 RAD BALLET

Grade 5 ballet ups the ante with the possibility of progressing onto pointe shoes. Teens can discuss with their ballet teachers and parents whether they are ready to go en pointe, as they will need to first assess if they are developmentally ready. New positions and techniques as well as Grade 5 RAD exam preparation are all part of this class.
